Malihah: A Font That Brings Joy to Branding Projects

It’s a typical Monday morning, and I’m sitting at my desk with a fresh brand board open in front of me. The client is a small boutique that sells handmade candles and artisanal soaps. They want something warm, inviting, and a little whimsical. As I start sketching out logo ideas, I find myself thinking about the right font to pair with their brand personality. That’s when I pull up Malihah.

Malihah is a handwritten font that feels like it was created with a heart full of joy. It’s bouncy, playful, and has that unmistakable charm of a hand-drawn script. Right away, I can see how it could work for this project. It’s not just any font—it’s a typeface with a personality. Its curves are soft yet bold, making it both elegant and approachable. It’s the kind of font that makes people smile just by looking at it.

The First Mockup

I started by testing Malihah on a few logo drafts. One idea involved a simple tagline paired with a minimalist icon. When I applied Malihah, it brought a sense of warmth and creativity that felt perfect for the boutique’s vibe. The font’s unique structure made the text feel alive, as if it were written by hand with care and intention.

What stood out most was how versatile Malihah is. It doesn’t feel too childish or too formal. Instead, it strikes a balance between playful and professional. This made it ideal for a wide range of applications—from branding materials to social media graphics.

Testing in Different Contexts

To ensure it would work across different platforms, I tested Malihah in various design scenarios. On a business card, it looked clean and readable, even in smaller sizes. On a shop sign, it added a touch of charm without overwhelming the message. For packaging, I used it on product labels, where its bouncy style complemented the handmade aesthetic.

One of my favorite tests was using it on an Instagram post. The font’s visual appeal caught attention immediately, and it helped convey the boutique’s brand voice effectively. It worked well as a headline font, drawing the eye while maintaining readability.

Malihah also performed well in editorial design. I used it in a flyer for a local event, pairing it with a sans serif font for contrast. The combination created a dynamic look that felt modern yet personal. It showed how easily Malihah can transition from digital to print, making it a great choice for designers who need a font that works in multiple formats.

Font Pairing and Design Consistency

When it comes to font pairing, Malihah is surprisingly flexible. I paired it with a clean sans serif font for body text, which helped maintain a sense of professionalism while keeping the overall design warm and friendly. For logos, I found that using Malihah as the primary typeface worked best, especially when combined with a simple geometric shape to balance its organic feel.

One thing I noticed is that Malihah works best as a display or headline font. It’s not ideal for long blocks of text due to its decorative nature. However, it shines when used in short-form content, such as social media posts, website headers, or product tags. This makes it a great addition to a designer’s toolkit for projects that require a mix of typography styles.

Another important consideration is readability. While Malihah is beautiful, it’s crucial to test it in different contexts. I made sure to check how it looked on a variety of backgrounds and sizes. In some cases, I adjusted the weight or spacing to ensure clarity, especially when using it on signs or labels.

Practical Tips for Using Malihah

If you’re considering using Malihah for your next project, here are a few practical tips:

Overall, Malihah is a font that brings energy and character to any design. Whether you’re working on a logo, a packaging label, or a social media graphic, it adds a touch of warmth and personality that resonates with audiences. It’s a great choice for designers who want to make their brand stand out with a font that feels both creative and professional.
